Technomancy's place

today we're launching the campaign for the Keyboardio Atreus, the ultraportable ergonomic mechanical keyboard!

I've been selling these as DIY #mechanicalkeyboard kits for over 5 years, but now working together with @obra we're able to offer a fully-assembled version at a significantly lower price; check it out!

@technomancy @obra better hurry if you want an early access too, it's moving fast

2020/03/17 4:11:25 PM UTC

@technomancy @obra not even 10 minutes and it's met its target as well as sold out all the early birds. good job!

2020/03/17 4:11:56 PM UTC

wow that was quick; funded for $25,000 in 7 minutes. thanks everyone!

2020/03/17 4:15:07 PM UTC

@technomancy I think I read we could add accessories later to early access backers?

2020/03/17 4:21:17 PM UTC

@robjloranger yeah, there will be the option for that later in the campaign

if you're curious to see more about this, I gave a talk about the design of the Atreus at RacketCon last summer

and also posted about the process of building the initial prototype on my blog

Wow, that price is a great deal for an awesome keyboard. Good job, and congratulations!

btw if you ever bought an Atreus #keyboard from me and something happened to it and now it doesn't work: contact me! doesn't matter how long ago it was.

it bums me out when I hear about people whose keyboards aren't being used but could be fixed with a simple repair; I will walk you thru the process. we can get it working again!

@technomancy I checked out your Atreus kit, and I'm very impressed with the instructions. I mean, the design and everything is really cool too, but I'm used to seeing cool designs for stuff. I almost never see quality docs for retail products, so bravo. I may pick one up just to encourage the effort you've put in!

@W10x12_UNO awesome; glad you like the look of it. I have had five years to iterate on and improve the assembly instructions, which helps! definitely let me know if you have any questions; if you do order a kit I can ship it in a matter of weeks rather than months for the campaign.

@technomancy Congrats! This looks great. Did you ever consider making a tablet keyboard/cover with this layout? Or a laptop? The touchpad would go between the screen and the two halves (a bit like Acer R7).

@technomancy Amazing! Still some daylight left and the kickstarter is nearly 100K.

I'm still working on the original DIY kit, but couldn't resist hopping on the bandwagon. With all that's been happening it's nice to see some good news. Congratulations!

@technomancy mine’s still great but I’m getting the V2 as well :) I hit the enter key so hard it’s gone through the wood a bit but I can deal with it being a few mm lower than the others, it’s a battle scar.

@technomancy The original one you sold me isn't working...but that's only because I haven't finished it! (still need to solder in the microcontroller)
